Welcome to Slow English!

Hello! Welcome to Slow English. I am very excited to be able to offer you this wonderful opportunity to improve the fluency of your English. Let me introduce myself: my name is Nic Mendocha.  I am an experienced and qualified English teacher.

Each weekly episode will consist of a text about life in Britain with an accompanying audio (spoken by me!) – this will ensure that you exercise those important English-learning skills: listening and reading. Pretty good, eh? This text and audio will be available to you every Wednesday.

Be sure to also subscribe to my accompanying podcast at iTunes. You can do this here _________ or see the link on the bottom right hand side of this page. This way you will also be able to learn on-the-go. The text (that appears on this page) will automatically be downloaded onto your player. As each episode will be a nice, short length (about 3-5 minutes), you will be able to listen to and read each one several times (I highly recommend doing this at least 3 times per episode, for great results) on one journey. Or if you prefer, you can spread it over the course of the whole week.

Please do send me a message if you have any suggestions for topics you’d like me to cover. Remember, my focus is on life in Britain. I plan on covering the British sense of humour, music scene, school and university system, Government and politics, the royal family, London life, British fashion and much, much more!

Although this website will be useful to most learners of English, I particularly recommend that you are of at least a pre-intermediate level.

Meanwhile, please be patient – I am planning to have my first topic up by at least October 2009.
